Once upon a time every woman about town had an evening coat. But these days how easy is it to find plus size evening coats. Not as easy as you would think. I myself had this difficulty last year, when I was invited to attend a formal ball on a cold New York winter evening. At the time I just had to use my trusty long black wool coat and added a velvet scarf for a little panache. I felt a little like Calamity Jane in the scene where she arrives at the dance in an old army coat to reveal her fabulous frock underneath.
