So let’s continue taking a look at plus size clothing and fashion trends for Fall this year. Yesterday we looked at animal print, today we are looking at another bold trend, but one that has a real feminine touch and more than a nod to the 1950s and 1960s. Many designers went retro on the catwalks, and the ‘look’ was definitely “mad Men’ inspired, if you’ve seen the TV show, you’ll know exactly what I mean. But ‘How can a plus size woman pull off that look?’ I hear you cry! Well, it’s all about dressing your curves in a way that accentuates but also flatters, and you know that you own some great plus size clothing that does that, right? Think pencil skirts, fitted jackets, scoop neck blouses, and team with cute retro style handbags and silk scarves tied at the neck, maybe even add a pair of leather or suede gloves.

Nothing looks more sophisticated and glamorous than a woman who really knows how to pull an outfit together. I know I have mentioned before about building a basic wardrobe but it really is the way to go, and you can keep up with new trends by adding accessories. So take your basic pieces, a fitted jacket, and a pencil skirt, or a fuller skirt. Nip the jacket in at the waist with a skinny belt, add gloves and kitten heels and away you go. Or take one Marilyn Convertible ruched dress from MonifC, or a similar style cocktail dress, add cute vintage style jewelry and Joan Holloway eat your heart out!

You don’t have to totally copy the look, just by adding certain pieces which give a nod to the trend, you can update your wardrobe. So dig out your cutsie cardigans and sweaters, add skinny belts, raid the vintage shops for handbags and silk scarves, and grab your kitten heels. Bring some fun to your look this Fall.
